The Louisiana Constitution is the cornerstone of our laws prescribing the rights of individuals, the distribution and powers of state and local government, the establishment of the state and city civil service systems, the creation and operation of a state lottery, and the manner of revising the constitution.

The Louisiana Civil Code is a compilation of civil laws that govern the legal capacity of persons, the contract of and effects of marriage, grounds for divorce, classification of children and parental authority, the acquisition, ownership, use, disposition, or donation of things and property, conventional obligations (contracts), and the resolution of conflict of laws. Many of these laws are supplemented by the Louisiana Revised Statutes.

The Louisiana Administrative Code (LAC) is maintained by the Office of the State Register, which does not provide search capabilities.
The LAC provides a set of rules that have been formally adopted or amended by Louisiana state agencies. The LAC is published in accordance with legislative authority and through legal rulemaking procedure, specifically the Louisiana Administrative Procedure Act [pdf]. The LAC implements many of the acts contained in the Revised Statutes and is updated monthly via the Louisiana Register.
